Pink Skies at Night, Sailors’ Delight

Katie Lois Leahul, 2021 acrylic on gallery canvas

About the Collection:

Pink Skies at Night, Sailors’ Delight takes a cross-Canada journey showcasing the beauty of the places we call home, and the places that hold our most intimate memories. This collection has a Western Canadian focus with a dusting of Eastern Canada. The inspiration was pulled from the artist’s travels across Canada from Victoria to Kenora, jumping over to Toronto and ending in the Maritimes.

These pieces were created during a time of change, uncertainty and quiet introspection. The moody palette combined with expressive brush strokes and focused line work provokes a nostalgic almost wistful resonance. Each piece has it’s own story, that intends to take the viewer to a moment in-between nostalgia and optimism for what tomorrow may bring.

With love and kindness.
